Introduction to Java
Java is a simple and powerful object oriented programming language and it is in many respects similar to C++.Core Java or Java is a programming language, using which we can develop programs/applications and software for computers especially. It is intended to let application developers “write once, run anywhere” meaning that compiled Java code can run on all platforms that support Java/Core Java without the need for recompilation.
Ex: Calculator, Notepad, MS-Office applications, Internet applications, student applications, Banking applications etc..
History of Java.
Java/Core Java was invented in the year 1991 by “James Gosling” with his team at Sun micro systems,USA (silicon valley,California). it was used for writing the programs to embedded devices.
Ex:Washing machine,Microwave ovens,Projectors,Walkman,VCR,VCP,etc..
Java was initially known as “Oak” Language after an oak tree that stood outside Gosling’s office. Later in the year 1995 project passed by the name Green and was finally renamed Java/Core Java, from Java coffee. Gosling, designed Java with a C/C++ style syntax that system and application programmers would find familiar. This language (Core Java) was used especially for writing computer programs for end users. The most recent variant is Java 8, which is the main version currently supported for free by Oracle, although earlier versions are supported both by Oracle and other companies on a commercial basis. Basically, by using the Core Java/Java programming, we can develop two types of application for a computer system. Learn Digital Marketing online free
Java Applications |
Stand-alone applications: These applications will run on a single system without any network.
Ex:Calculator,Notepad,Office etc. (From the topic What is Core Java?)
Network-based applications: These applications will run on two or more systems interconnected through the network such as Local Area Network(LAN)/Internet.
Ex:Chatting applications,Email applications,file sharing applications etc..
